About Me

I’m a 60-year-old Aspergic gardening CAD-Monkey. Sardonic, cynical and with the political leanings of a social reformer, I’m also a toy and model figure collector, particularly interested in the history of plastics and plastic toys. Other interests are history, current affairs, modern art, and architecture, gardening and natural history. I love plain chocolate, fireworks and trees, but I don’t hug them, I do hug kittens. I hate ignorance, when it can be avoided, so I hate the 'educational' establishment and pity the millions they’ve failed with teaching-to-test and rote 'learning' and I hate the short-sighted stupidity of the entire ruling/industrial elite, with their planet destroying fascism and added “buy-one-get-one-free”. Likewise, I also have no time for fools and little time for the false crap we're all supposed to pretend we haven't noticed, or the games we're supposed to play. I will 'bite the hand that feeds', to remind it why it feeds.

C is for Countdown to Halloween - 8 - Wilko's Pack of Bugs . . . seen before!

These were also (like yesterday's) bought a few weeks ago, and are a repacking of the slimy bugs we looked at a year or so ago, last time in The Works, but now with . . .

. . . added polyethylene ants! That's it, Wilko from Wilkinson's; another pound; more mag'gits and some ants!

Comparison shots with the previous lot from The Works, the new worms are a tad browner, and the maggots are a purer white, the unit-cost differential of extra ants is equalised by dropping a few pupae - six over the original ten + three ants!

Halloween - barely!
Scary - hardly!
Realistic - yes actually; the worms and maggots are!
Bargain - 11 critters for £1, yeah, I think so!

I'm thinking that the ants make that a pretty cool back.

I could see using the ants in some kind of insect attack diorama(?)

Nice find!

The beauty of all this stuff John is it can be used with any scale of figures, those worms would make nice baby spice-worms in HO/OO, but real spice-worms in 1:300 or even 1:1200 space-ship gaming!

I never really looked into it but I rememberer back at the start of the blog John put me on to HOTT which is a free download and you can use armies of anything!
