While the Vectis Toy Soldier Sale in on Monday (this Monnday), no nice mixed 'junk' lots, and far too much 'new metal' for my liking (as always!), but some quality mint/boxed Timpo and Britains among them for those who's pockets might be a tad deeper thann mine!
I'm unlikely to go back to the full Friday 'Forthcoming Dates/Events posts for a while yet, but when I do, I will probably simplify them; I've noticed they can choke-up some search results, so they will be tagged less for starters! And when I'm feeling strong, I'll go back and clean up all 150-odd of the old ones!
and for when the listing has long gone . . .
Madness!
Next two Vectis auctions are later today and tomorrow; nice things in both . . .

A Connecticut estate-auction is coming up on-line, with 'Lead Toy Soldiers' and 'Metal Toys & Figurines' in the descriptive blurb it may be worth a looksee?
While Vivian Lord made the evening news on CBS and it looks like the 'Army Gals' will be out for Christmas, but what will be generally available as true toys, and what's only available as go-fund-me pre-order specials isn't made clear? She was briefly on Reddit too, but the post was removed?

Looking out of the window (4-p.m. Wednesday) and I see something which looks vaguely apocalyptic, or a scene from The Birds; a mini-tornado type gust has just passed through the neighbourhood, ripping all the remaining leaves off the trees over the road and they are now whirling around in huge clouds, in the failing light, like demented starlings and falling on everything like a damp, brown snow of contaminated alien poop!
There's a definite malaise setting in; while it's nice we have two vaccines and they both seem effective, Trump's lost and Cummings' gone, the problems, locally, nationally and globally are greater than Biden can sort in an instant or even in four years, while the Orange Loon is determined to do as much damage (particularly to America's standing abroad) in the next two months as he has in the last four years and is clearly trying to create the atmosphere for revolution, without being blamed for it, if it happens, while there are plenty of idiots to be fed his idiollogy, not wear masks, buy gas-guzzlers/patio heaters/trailer-mounted BBQ's and the like as if there's a Planet B to go to and generally carry on like there's no problems at all - even though they know damn-well there are or they wouldn't be voting for these gobshite snake-oil salesmen!.
But seasonal depression, Covid and other things are bearing down on everyone as well, now, I think, tempers are short, motivation is lacking and even when you've got the stuff and shot it, it seems to sit on the desktop while you opine on Faceplant from bedtime-to-bedtime!
Amusing that having got a bit of mojo back the other day I seem to have woken TJF as well! And he's going to give us what I posted on a mutual Faceplant group weeks ago, having bought them in . . . just to follow me [again!!]? How sweet! I'll put mine on the back burner and carry-on with new-to-hobby/Blog/internet, Polish small-scale!
Anyway, roundabout way of saying I forgot Tuesday's Vectis sale despite having the info' for a couple of weeks, soz! Better quickly tell you about tomorrow's sale while there's still time to follow it up!

Airfix Blog
I've added yesterday's rubber key-ring knight to the Sheriff of Nottinham page on the Airfix figures Blog (http://airfixfigs.blogspot.com/2010/06/1964-sheriff-of-nottingham-s21-hooo.html), probably not something you need to rush off and look at again, but it's done!
Sad News
Don Pielin, giant in the hollow-cast branch of our hobby has gone off to play with his toys for all eternity; an obituary page has been set-up here.
Another fellow-collector; Steven C Rowe, has passed-away, and Covid-19 has been fingered as the culprit. More here onWYDaily where they may also make you watch a video on why you should be wearing your mask!

Toy Shows
With the above in mind, I will not be publicising toy soldier shows or toy fairs until we have got a grip on novel corona viruses full stop. It's quite easy once you understand the science; either you are
You should be wearing a mask whenever and wherever you can! Not just when you absolutely have to, but at every opportunity; it's a virulent killer and it's airborne! It's only modern medicine which is preventing higher death-tolls, and a quick mutation over the winter could still see death-tolls rise sharply, in the meantime people continue to die, every day.
There have been two toy soldiers shows recently and two toy fairs, they were all in the US and all poorly attended and rightly-so.
Recent coverage of a toy soldier show has one chap with his mask off his nose, I hope he gets a worse dose than his President (if you believe his President ever had it!), another is shown with his mask pulled under his chin . . . fuckwit, if he dies I won't be posting his obit'!
People promoting, dealing or buying at shows - right now - lack basic common sense, or have consciously surrendered common-sense in preference for serving their greed.

I'm not being lazy in this hiatus, just idle! I've translated the ID info on 150-odd Russian brands and looked in depth at one of the later combines, which only serves to confuse the former as the "plants" of the later, retained as 'brand-marks', the former's "factory" 'brands'!
I've also got more Polish follow-ups in the pipeline, caught up with the condolence correspondence; apologies to anyone who wore a 'new' Christian name; I C&P'ed the first paragraph as it was all still a bit raw. Thank you all, both private messages and the post commentators.
And - best fun of all; one of TJF's shills tried to get me banned from another site, only problem with his grand plan being . . . he had to admit, in his complaint, to being both the people he was denying being one-half-of, in one of the private 'Mails . . . summing up the general level of innate stupidity which has accompanied all members of the PSTSM and their associates, in their dealings with me since the forked-tongue attacks of December 2016.
In the meantime we've had a press release from Vectis about this week's auctions and advance warning of the stuff latter in the month.
