About Me

I’m a 60-year-old Aspergic gardening CAD-Monkey. Sardonic, cynical and with the political leanings of a social reformer, I’m also a toy and model figure collector, particularly interested in the history of plastics and plastic toys. Other interests are history, current affairs, modern art, and architecture, gardening and natural history. I love plain chocolate, fireworks and trees, but I don’t hug them, I do hug kittens. I hate ignorance, when it can be avoided, so I hate the 'educational' establishment and pity the millions they’ve failed with teaching-to-test and rote 'learning' and I hate the short-sighted stupidity of the entire ruling/industrial elite, with their planet destroying fascism and added “buy-one-get-one-free”. Likewise, I also have no time for fools and little time for the false crap we're all supposed to pretend we haven't noticed, or the games we're supposed to play. I will 'bite the hand that feeds', to remind it why it feeds.

T is for Two - Renwal Dimestore Automobiles

A quickie now, approximately 1:48th, proper 'Dimestore' from Renwal and a rather insipid yellow, that's not the US 1950's taxi colour either! The seller (years ago) actually had several of them including some better-coloured ones, but I had limited funds and took these two because one had a figure (small-scale figure!) and the other was a consecutively numbered 'hard top' version of the first!

1950's Dime Store Toy; American 1950's Cars; American Cars; Dime Store Cars; Dime Store Toy; Dime Store Vehicles; Dimestore Coupe; Open-topped Tourer; Plastic Toys; Renwal Company; Renwal Dime Store Toy; Renwal Plastics; Small Scale World; smallscaleworld.blogspot.com; Vintage Plastic Dimestore; Vintage Plastic Toy Cars; Vintage Toy Vehicles;
Posed passing the Kilgore 'space-car' heading the other way and parked-up next to each other I'm assuming they were 103 and -4 respectively in the Renwal catalogue? I'f I remember my though process at the time, another reason I bought these two was that they had paint which most of the others didn't?

1950's Dime Store Toy; American 1950's Cars; American Cars; Dime Store Cars; Dime Store Toy; Dime Store Vehicles; Dimestore Coupe; Open-topped Tourer; Plastic Toys; Renwal Company; Renwal Dime Store Toy; Renwal Plastics; Small Scale World; smallscaleworld.blogspot.com; Vintage Plastic Dimestore; Vintage Plastic Toy Cars; Vintage Toy Vehicles;
The, colour wasn't conducive to photographing the marking (in the engine-bay) but you can see the simple construction and the fact that they were very definitely 10¢! The silver is stenciled with a spray-gun, but the brown has been hand-applied, in a rush, by someone who knows it will be sold for ten cents!

That's it; two Renwal Dimestore automobiles.

K is for Kilgore and Kinder

Astronauts need Astrocars! A 'Jewels for Playthings' dime-store toy car from Kilgore with a couple of figures from Kinder.

"Well?"

"Well what?"

"Keys?"

"I haven't got them, you had them last"
"URRR! The last thing I said to you was do you have your passport, mobile and KEYS! 'Oh Yes' says you, 'Got'em here' says you..."

"No..actually, No, You asked about the passport, but you already had the keys, and my mobile was on charge in the car all along..."

"Aaarrrhh! Well we're stuck now aren't we? The house in another dimension for at least a month...do you have any idea how long it's gonna' take to walk to Toysoldier Prime...My mother said 'Don't get involved with a Bird-Man, they're nothing but trouble', did I listen?...."
