About Me

No Fixed Abode, Home Counties, United Kingdom
I’m a 60-year-old Aspergic gardening CAD-Monkey. Sardonic, cynical and with the political leanings of a social reformer, I’m also a toy and model figure collector, particularly interested in the history of plastics and plastic toys. Other interests are history, current affairs, modern art, and architecture, gardening and natural history. I love plain chocolate, fireworks and trees, but I don’t hug them, I do hug kittens. I hate ignorance, when it can be avoided, so I hate the 'educational' establishment and pity the millions they’ve failed with teaching-to-test and rote 'learning' and I hate the short-sighted stupidity of the entire ruling/industrial elite, with their planet destroying fascism and added “buy-one-get-one-free”. Likewise, I also have no time for fools and little time for the false crap we're all supposed to pretend we haven't noticed, or the games we're supposed to play. I will 'bite the hand that feeds', to remind it why it feeds.

U is for Updates - Jig Toy Page

I've been adding stuff to the Jig Toy page for a few days now, and I think I added some stuff a while ago and didn't announce it, but there's still a few bits to add, by which time it will be about three times the size it was, but any order it had has been diluted by a more chaotic scrapbook approach.

Among the items still to be added are some larger puzzles from Character Molding of the US, which seems to be where my Fairylite 'Exploding Battleship' came from, no surprise as I pointed out at the time, they were all things to all toy men, including importers! I guess this was the 'Exploding Tank'?

The first word on these puzzles is still Rob's page, and he has added a tremendous amount since I last looked at it here;

G is for Gap!

Hummm....I don't seem to have anything ready to to publish, not do I have a 'news/views' waiting! Having been first convalescing from a fall off a ladder (I knew I would and I did!) and then a few days absolutely, literally, like dying a man-flue death, I was keeping up with the posting, but now I'm back up the ladder (still snuffling!), it's all been and went a bit Pete Tong!

Never mind, I'll sort something out for tomorrow . . .maybe!

In the meantime...I have;

Found two more kits for the AA Model entry
Added another fire-engine and cube-eraser to the Jig Toys page
Updated the table for the Airfix Flats and added some blurb
Posted 3 more figures to the Early Airfix set

Fire-engines! I have some fire-engines in the queue, and some card soldiers, one of them for Saturday, then  -  the other on Sunday!

This hiatus also gives me a chance to post a meme I stole from the Facebook, which is of relevance to Pygmy-pecker Peter and his ilk!

It's easy to be a right-wing, reactionary, parochial, jingoistic, little-flag waving, drawbridge pulling-up, bigot, you just sit in-front of the TV in your underpants yelling abuse at the talking-heads and anyone you consider to look a bit 'foreign' or a bit 'girly', being a pinko-leftie, liberal, democrat on the other hand; actually requires effort as you have to fight you own prejudice as well as the prejudices of those around you and those inherent in all living things...liberalism is an active celebration of the full concept of 'civilisation', isolationist nationalism [in a global world - with ONE dominant species] is the lazy thicko’s answer to problems that frighten him because his brain's too small, and he will only magnifiy those problems or keep them burning for another generation!

Same for the Trumptons! Marine La Penn's lot on the other hand; just think they might get to sleep with her if they vote for her, simple men, simple thought-processes! While the Hungarians and Rumanians seem to have forgotten, mighty quickly, what they went through under the Germans and Soviets . . . or learnt too much?

News, Views etc....Jigtoys

Had a nice eMail from Nick Symes (who's the chap behind the increasingly comprehensive and excellent British cereal premium site 'Cereal Offers' we've linked to once or twice), he's starting to get the Kellogg's pages loaded, and provided three links to his Jig Toys posts which I've added to the jig-toy page (above).

It answers several questions but leaves me needing to edit the page (again!), which I'll try do do promptly...in the meantime...the horses aren't missing their ears...the gap 'is' their ears! The tractor, likewise never had a sticky-up exhaust, so the Merit one isn't broken. The difference between all the wagons is partly-explained by different mouldings over time and there were three sets, not the two in 'Cluck' with some very different toys in the third which helps explain things. Anyway; links are above.

News, Views, Etc...Pages

So, after yesterdays suggestion I have put all the Jig Toy / Puzzle Key Ring posts together on one page (see above for all pages), and will add to it from time to time. I've edited it to make it flow smoother and excised both a few duplications of my monosyllabic blurb and some errors/contradictions. I won't edit the originals which remain as a product of the time they were published. I also moved a few things around a bit and included the CIJ tractor and the - possibly - Fairylite battleship.

A few weeks ago I did the same thing with the Hong Kong Small Scale Khaki Infantry posts I rather lost interest in, and while some of you have found it, most haven't because I didn't announce it...creatures of habit - Humans! Again it's been edited, I've added the next section (it's still only about a 1/4 or a 1/3 complete) and I've added some bagged/carded sets and additions to the previously published sections.
