I’m a 60-year-old Aspergic gardening CAD-Monkey. Sardonic, cynical and with the political leanings of a social reformer, I’m also a toy and model figure collector, particularly interested in the history of plastics and plastic toys. Other interests are history, current affairs, modern art, and architecture, gardening and natural history. I love plain chocolate, fireworks and trees, but I don’t hug them, I do hug kittens. I hate ignorance, when it can be avoided, so I hate the 'educational' establishment and pity the millions they’ve failed with teaching-to-test and rote 'learning' and I hate the short-sighted stupidity of the entire ruling/industrial elite, with their planet destroying fascism and added “buy-one-get-one-free”. Likewise, I also have no time for fools and little time for the false crap we're all supposed to pretend we haven't noticed, or the games we're supposed to play. I will 'bite the hand that feeds', to remind it why it feeds.

F is for Follow-up - A is for Another African!

Chris also sent this as a follow-up to aprevious post back in January-  he found another!

Now the hair is pointing not to the native practices of mud, henna or similar decoration, but rather Hong Kong's desire for colourful rack-toys . . . he's got blue hair!

Like the previously seen pair of sculpts, he has beach-bum shorts with a zip-fly and elasticated waistband (!) but the bow is a pointer to his being meant to be a hunter-gatherer type

If I remember Peter Evans' notes on the subject there is still one pose to find - do you have it loyal reader? I'm guessing he should have pink shorts and green hair?

From the same 'mini-season' of African/Cavemen posts, Gog may have spotted his figure's accompanying dinosaurs in a post on an Austrian auction site. Some of the dinosaurs are of the less accurately sculpted 'gape mouthed' variety, but some are better sculpts and they may just be a mixed lot from two (or more) sources . . . but it's a clue!

I added this as it's similar to the one Chris showed us in the same series of posts/follow-ups back in January, with the 'Albrecht Durer' style plating of an Asian Rhinoceros, I didn't note the marking and put it away weeks ago (the queue is getting out of control!), but it's a very dense polyethylene and a slightly different pose from Chris's, who reminded me yesterday - in a roundabout sort of way - that ZZ 'Reizen Zoo' carried a similar Rhino too!

T és per 'Tienda de Campaña de Jecsan'

The search term I used to find the images I needed to cobble this slightly controversial post together at short-notice, but a bit of controversy at Easter seems like a good idea, people shouldn't get too comfortable, sat at home stuffing themselves with chocolate as they celebrate the apparent wrongful conviction and state-sponsored murder of the claimed Messiah!

But is it British?

Following the posting of the tent in the 'What The !&*$?' section of Plastic Warrior magazine's issue 173, I wrote the following to the Editor;

I was slightly surprised to see the request for information on the tent in PW173, as I'd assumed (never assume!) everyone thought it was Trojan, so I thought it was Trojan too - still learning this big-scale malarkey!

I now offer the possibility it may originate next door in Speedwell's stable? The colours on mine match the more mixed, marbled Speedwell Germans that came with it?

I also thought Trojan as they list both a red cross and camouflaged version in their catalogue, and I'm sure I've have seen plain-white ones (cat. 1134), assuming mine is 'camouflaged' (cat. 1133)?

Might the tent be one of the either-maker items which plague study of both . . . and others! Perhaps supplied by Speedwell to Trojan?

Only to be slapped-down with the news that it was in the big book of Spain and that seemed to be the end of the matter!

Hoovered-up study material!

Now, there is no doubt that Jecsan (who were revealed in the latest PW; Issue 174, to be the originator) have a number of these tents, indeed a couple of Google searches have revealed that as a Spanish toy, it's not even slightly rare, there were lots on Todocolecction last week, both colours, with and without the 'bedding insert' and all variants.

However in answer to the original question in PW173; "Does anyone know who made the military tent, below?" I am going to say, yes; probably Speedwell and/or Trojan. For the simple reason that it is camouflaged, or at least it is marbled/flecked with at least three colours in an attempt at camouflage.

But, let's look at the Spanish oeuvre first to get our bearings and . . .

Grrrreeeeeen, pure grrrreeeeen!

. . . spot the deliberate mistake - if you haven't already from the previous image; it would appear the Spanish forgot to sell themselves any 'camouflaged' ones and shipped them all to Britain, where I have now seen at least four?

It is a fact that while there may be marbled ones in Spain, I have yet to find one, but, all the non-white ones I've seen in the UK (and been told are 'Trojan') are marbled. At which point I should add that I've seen white ones over here too, but they are - by design - going to prove harder to ascribe, although I have a feeling one of them had painted red-crosses?

But the Spanish green ones are flat green, several shades, from a yellowish-olive green through a darker olive-drab to a pale-olive, some of which difference may be due to lighting, but that there are different greens is for sure, however; they are all flat, monotypes.

Whites

Now the white ones - definitely Spanish - raise several other points, which as I am only proposing a theory here, are worth looking at, although it's not all that clear and it will take/needs a Spanish collector to study and annotate them properly.

Most (but not all) the Spanish white tents, have a thinner window-bar on the open 'vent' window, it also has a more delicate rolled-up vent-cover relief-sculpting than the 'cheese slab' on the mouldings with a thicker window-bar (the tent outlined with hatchings - centre-left). However there is evidence for thin bars on some green ones too, so there were clearly at least two machine-tools.

I'm not so convinced about the differences I marked on, for the over-hang wavy-bits, I think it had more to do with angles of shots and a short-shot moulding (the 'scalloped' one).

Another major difference between the tool shots is that some tents have a second window on the back wall of the 'canvas', a rather fetching dormer-type with six framed panes in two panels meeting in the centre, and presumably opening and closing - if the carpenter remembered to put the hinges in!!

One of the things that needs more work (and if a Spaniard doesn't do it soon, Todocolecction will provide me with enough evidence to confirm or disprove myself) is the possibility (likelihood?) than those tents with rear etched-windows are the tents which also have . . .

. . . a straight-edged flap to the left of the door, as opposed to the more common curved edge, and again, while I think I saw a green one with rear-window, I couldn't find it on a second search, so for now it has to be assumed to be a white tent 'thing'.

Comparison

While the other Internet images here today have been screencaps or crop-outs, I am using this one (on the left) whole for the legitimate 'research purpose' of comparing with mine. You can see that they are the same tool, but the Spanish one is a flat green, and poorer-finished, being both more flashy, and less fettled.

The [UK] one has been cleaned-up, but had less flash to clean up, to begin with, especially on the four long internal mould release-pin channels, necessary to push the deep moulding off the male half of the mould. The strange off-set window cavity (with the thicker bar) is also the same.

It would seem that there are two tools identifiable from this early, slightly cursory work, one having the thin window bar, extra etched window and straight-edge to the door-flap, mostly white, and one with no second window, a curved flap and a thick window bar, mostly plain green if found in Spain, often camouflaged if found in the UK.

Different treatments of the figures
but both close to the tent's mix.

At this point the theory needs to speculate! I suspect that if the theory (and there's nothing wrong with a theory, it remains only a theory until proven or disproven) that Speedwell and/or Trojan are responsible for the UK found camouflage versions is true; they came after the thin window-bar version had been in production for some time.

The fact that the thin bars are often broken, along with the daft window on the rear wall led to the development of the second version with a more robust window-bar and no rear window, in the production of which the door-flap was also given a little more 'sag'.

However there may be other versions and I will continue to pore-over images as they become available!

Now it may be that any UK version is a straight copy, but I think they may have had first dibs on the new tool, hence the cleaner castings? The Spanish would have had a stock of the old mostly (all?) white ones, and switched to the latter version after it was returned - from the UK?

The reasoning for a relationship is not hard, there was a lot of mould-swapping back in the day, the whole Trojan/Speedwell and UNA/VP thing has Kentoy behind it, one of the Kentoy sculptors worked with the Spanish (Reamsa) . . . draw your own picture; it's only a theory!

Three colours clearly visible
at the neatly-trimmed gate-mark

With the addition of a fourth colour (sand) these Speedwell Germans are manufactured in a very similar colour-way and the other three colours (oxide-red, herb-green and black) are a good match - the herb green goes a bit appley where it mixed with the sand, but on the rifle's four-grip it's the same herby or pale-jade shade.

Trojan carried two tents in their catalogue, priced to match a stretcher team (one shilling and sixpence), which would be approximately right for the amount of plastic in this tent;
  • ·         Cat. 1133 - Camouflaged Tent
  • ·         Cat. 1134 - Red Cross Tent
. . . for which there are no other candidates, the only likely one I knew-of turned out to be Starlux years ago - a small two-man pup-tent, also marbled but in a phenolic or styrol polymer!

Also Trojan - who were (only a few years ago) a barely-understood 'minor make' - have turned out to be a prolific maker of toys, novelties and plaything's including flying models of aircraft and gliders, collectors cards, blow-moulds and solid plastic toy soldiers, with Colin Penn's recent discovery probably also involved and they (Trojan) may well have had the clout (or 'imagination') to hire-in a Spanish mould.

Some older collectors already thought this (the camouflaged) tent was Trojan, but the match being with Speedwell figures, that makes it a bit murkier. The people from whom I bought mine had been to the Trojan works back in the 1950's/60's, and large numbers of both Speedwell and Trojan figures were in that same 'big purchase'.

They also reported a vat of liquid in the stables, from which people were taking 'stuff', this is unlikely to be a polymer (even though the witness though it was - hot plastic, out of its containment vessel doesn't behave like a liquid, but more like a writhing and rapidly solidifying snake - or hot blancmange!) so they may also be responsible for some of the many unknown hollow-cast or solid lead figures in the back of Joplin's 'Big Book'? Or maybe they were casting components for the model aircraft?

The real point is that for the theory to hold until further evidence comes to light, one only has to accept that there don't seem to be Jecsan camouflaged versions in Spain, but there are a few in the UK, Trojan had a varied oeuvre and a camouflaged tent in their catalogue, there's no other obvious candidate for the Trojan tent at the moment and . . . err . . . that's it.

Speedwell and/or, of/for Trojan tent via Jecsan? I'm not saying they ARE, but I am saying they MIGHT be!

Hell - Jecsan may even have got the tent from the Brit's, they (Speedwell / Trojan) were active in the 1950's, the Jecsan set's which carried these are dated (by the Spanish) to the 1960's? But that's a mischievous-thought rather than a serious part of the theory!

19th May 2022 - Now (2022) to be found in the Trojan Special publication as Trojan! I still prefer Speedwell, but there was cross-fertilisation!

Four very similar mould release-pin marks are to be seen here on a modern Hong Kong/China tent, again: to help 'pop' the moulding off the deep male half of the tool. Anyone know whose sets it was found in?

Q is for Question Time - Small Mortar

Chris Smith is asking about this small mortar which he thinks may be a minor British maker's, and I have to concur with him as . . .

. . . it's not the first time I've seen one, and I'm pretty sure the last time I saw one it was ID'd by someone at the time, being then - myself - a small scale collector I clearly didn't pay enough attention, and wasn't taking notes!

I also have a half a memory I've seen either the same one or another, tied into (or onto) a base-card with a bit of thread looped over the base bars at two or three points. Is anybody able to help Chris with his little mortar?

Late memory coming as I post . . . is a hook and sky-crane type helicopter involved?

I should add that it's quite small, about 25mm high?

F is for Follow-up - M is for Monkey Business

Many thanks to Chris Smith for this particular follow-up, he quite quickly solved the question of the unknown helmeted 'cool runnings' character in a Wookie-suit, it was actually a board game, the original seeming to be from Spear's and my examples probably budget Hong Kong clones.

Chris has one in a purple'ish plastic, who is clearly the same beast (in both senses of the word) unlike my deformed, helmeted Ewoks! You can see how the bar is used to lock them in at each stop-point on the climb, it still leaves my chrome-plated chap as a question mark I think, he's the wrong shape for this type of game?

Chris also has this Monkey novelty, looking like similar all-plastic 'dimestore' toys from Thomas, Banner or Pyro or such-like but with more substantial steel cross-bars, as you turn the fancy handle-wheels (in both directions) the monkey jerks about and does cartwheels and stuff, I vaguely remember a similar toy from childhood, possible with a clown figure? Cheers Chris!

D is for Dancing Dancers Dance a Dance!

I have Adrian little to thank for the first two lots here, he; having found the Fontanini set and knowing I'd be keen, put it to one side for me; also chucked the other in the small-scale scruff lot he had for me, in fact it's probably the more interesting of the two, Fontanini may have the following, but they are mass-produced and a lot of the mould-tools went for not just years but decades, while the other is less likely to survive in any numbers.

All six poses in what I think is the smallest size they came in, around 54/60mm compatible given the deep baroque 'regency wig' (my moniker for them!) bases they come on, I'm not aware of a painted 45mm vinyl-rubber set?

This is the more interesting of the two additions, marked to Peter Pan Playthings (who made a mix of 'general' toys and the odd board-game and are one of several PPP's in the archive!), and carrying a magnet in her heavy, drum-base, she's likely to be form either a novelty pair who dance-round each other's polarity, or a wand-controlled magnet game, like Merit's Driving Instructor game?

She's 40mm in total, 30-mil' without the base and a hard polystyrene against the soft polyethylene of the Fonatnini's.

I was kindly allowed by the staff to shoot this in British Heart Foundation's Farnborough store back in July, after pleading poverty! It was in the 'smart items' cabinet so I wasn't able to handle it, but I think it consists of a head/torso assembly and two legs sewed into the pink dress.

Later versions of these things (this combines all the tropes - music box, manicure/pedicure, dressing-table and jewellery/make-up storage) tended to have the same copies of Britains (or Fontanini's) dancers as were also used as cake decorations, all from Hong Kong, and while I suspect this may also be sourced in the colony, I think we're looking at the late 1950's and a more unique sculpting?

Also, it would appear there was nothing new in Ms. Madge Ciccone 's pointy, gold brassier, but it was nice of her to reprise the apparel! Thanks to Mercator Trading, the British Heart Foundation and Madonna!

T is for Toy Fair 2019 Reports - Amerang - Solido

Slowly getting through the London Toy Fair reports, and still with Amerang, another offering from who (whom, which?) was a rather interesting development, if now getting a bit boring . . . having previously be issued as partworks under various brands in the former Soviet Bloc & Europe (and Australasia - I think?) as well as being 'cleared' through The Works a few years ago!

Clearly not cleared thoroughly enough . . .

'Wirblewind'; 88mm Flak Gun; Altaya; Amerang; AMX; Artillery Gun; Artillery Tractor; AVF Models; Cromwell Tank; Die Cast AFV's; Eaglemoss; Flak-panzer IV; Half Track; Helicopter Toy; Heuy Helicopter; Huey UH1B; Hugh's Aircraft Corporation; Kennsington Olympia Toy Fair; Korean War; Krupp Protz; London Toy Fair 2019; Matchbox Toys; Model AFV's; Model Aircraft; Panther Coelian; Panzer Anhanger; Patton Tank; Sd.Kfz. 7; Small Scale World; smallscaleworld.blogspot.com; Solido; The Works; TK Maxx; Toy Fair 2019; Tractor; Trailer Tractor; Universal Group; Universal Matchbox; Utility Helicopter; Vietnam War; War Master; Whirlwind Panzer;
. . . as they are now appearing under Solido's banner, shipped-in to the UK by Amerang, good news if you like AFV's, excellent news is you're building war-gaming armies and feel you don't have the prerequisite modelling skills?

On display was a selection of WWII AFV's and aircraft, along with a nice Korean War Patton I and Vietnam-era Huey 'Slick'. The full range (as seen before) has more modern-era stuff in the line-up, but then the aircraft are from a previously different/separate part work series (currently still running in the UK I believe (forthcoming post - if I ever find time!)), so I'm guessing Solido have chosen the more popular subjects from both ranges to maximise sales and minimise further 'clearance'!

Basically - some manufacturer in China has developed exquisite ranges of AFV's and aircraft in a constant 1:72nd scale, with fine plastic detailing on die-cast bodies - which rival the best Corgi has to offer, and they are selling them (as contract-manufacture) to anyone who wants them, and about six brands/publishers, so far, have taken-up that opportunity. Except . . . of cource . . . it's at least two factories; as we saw here.

Consequently they are not rare, and those eBay bottom feeders who bulk-purchased at 2 or 3-quid from The Works and them put them on the feebleBay for 6, 8, or 10-smackers-a-pop, should be taken outside and shot for the black-marketeers they are! [Not so 'far left' now, am I James? Seems I can be as right wing as you and your Mosque floor-plan researching, gun-loving bred'rin!]

Panther 'Coelian', an experimental vehicle which saw little or no service, hence the unpainted, surface-rusted turret. Like Flak-panzer IV 'Kugelblitzen', 'Maus'es' (mice? Misen? Misen to picen!) and E100's, there are X10-many more in war games armies than ever left the factories it's all a bit silly, really! Wouldn't stop me buying one though - ah, yes; the hypocrisy of the pink monkeys!

Safer ground with a Patton tank - painted by Dr. No's henchmen it seems! Didn't save the Gloster's did it . . . fussa-russa!

But a nice model of a machine which - where previously issued in this size - has always been highly inaccurate, whether Japanese pull-back or clockwork's imported by Riko or the Airfix 'readymade' which couldn't decide if it was an M '46, '47 or '48 or what it's turret should look like (despite trying two designs!) in the 1960's or later Hong Kong stuff based on Blue Box's effort copied by Rado, et al in the 1970/80's . . . hell - they still turn-up; horrible little squat-lumps of wasted polyethylene!

Lovely! What can you say, better that Airfix, Hasegawa or Fujimi, that's for sure, and the fact that the anhanger (trailer) tractor behind has a different camouflage and no tilt, while the gun-tractor has a full tilt (apparently in two parts), suggests multiple purchases could be cross pollinated to quickly produce a fleet of (6?) different-looking vehicles.

Hugh's Aircraft Corporation Utility Helicopter 1 . . . B! I think this is actually painted-up as a South Vietnamese airframe of the type thrown into the sea in large numbers at the end, as US Aircraft Carriers and amphibious assault ship's decks filled with the fleeing regime's hardware? Loving the tiger-stripes!

In the background is an AMX, is it painted for Chad or South Africa or somewhere like that? And if you're thinking it has limited use on the war game's table, I can assure you the 3rd Fantasian Motor Rifle Division had a heavy reconnaissance regiment requiring 9 of them on the table!

'Wirblewind'; 88mm Flak Gun; Altaya; Amerang; AMX; Artillery Gun; Artillery Tractor; AVF Models; Cromwell Tank; Die Cast AFV's; Eaglemoss; Flak-panzer IV; Half Track; Helicopter Toy; Heuy Helicopter; Huey UH1B; Hugh's Aircraft Corporation; Kennsington Olympia Toy Fair; Korean War; Krupp Protz; London Toy Fair 2019; Matchbox Toys; Model AFV's; Model Aircraft; Panther Coelian; Panzer Anhanger; Patton Tank; Sd.Kfz. 7; Small Scale World; smallscaleworld.blogspot.com; Solido; The Works; TK Maxx; Toy Fair 2019; Tractor; Trailer Tractor; Universal Group; Universal Matchbox; Utility Helicopter; Vietnam War; War Master; Whirlwind Panzer;
A couple more in the box, I NEED a Protz! I think the Flak-panzer IV 'Wirblewind' is the same model Matchbox branded about 15 years ago, which would make them the first to carry these models (albeit as a small and hard to find range), long before Altaya (or was it Eaglemoss?!) et al, and further suggest that at least one of the contract manufacturer's may be (or have been) part of the Universal Group?

War Master from Solido via Amerang, ex-everybodyelse! Get 'em when you see 'em or you'll be paying double on evilBay in a few years time! Or - as they aren't that cheap anyway - wait and see if they are churned through The Works or TKMaxx in a year or two - somewhere in the Far East, there's a warehouse the size of an aircraft-hanger (or two); full of 'em!!

M is for Melbourne's 'Margarine' Men

Another rushed post, but it rather suits the subject, a small sample doesn't call for collages or anything, yet this one is interesting enough to run to four images, so a half-reasonable use of your Sunday browse!

Basketball Player; Demi Rond; Demi Ronde Bosse; Demi-Ronde Bosse; Discus Thrower; Flag Barer; Hockey Player; Melbourne Athletes; Melbourne Australia; Melbourne Olympics; Olympic Games; Premium Flats; Premium Sportsmen; Premium Toy Figures; Semi Flat; Semi-Flats; Small Scale World; smallscaleworld.blogspot.com; Sports; Sports Figures; Sports Premiums; Sportsmen;
I only have five of the athletes, two each of the discus thrower and basketball chap and one hockey player, as you can see the baseball player seems to have been seconded from the Harlem Globetrotters!

It's funny; when I was a kid they were almost mythical, and every kid knew about them, yet while they are still going (as far as I know) and doing the exhibition tours, the internet has somehow diluted their fame in a billion shots of pets and selfies (and toy soldiers!) and they don't carry the press they used-to, which is a bit sad.

It's the same image, but the lower shot (I did squeeze a collage or two in!) has the shadow setting pushed right-up to get the detail showing. While my sample of the athletes is small, the flag-bearer's are not so hard to come by . . .

Basketball Player; Demi Rond; Demi Ronde Bosse; Demi-Ronde Bosse; Discus Thrower; Flag Barer; Hockey Player; Melbourne Athletes; Melbourne Australia; Melbourne Olympics; Olympic Games; Premium Flats; Premium Sportsmen; Premium Toy Figures; Semi Flat; Semi-Flats; Small Scale World; smallscaleworld.blogspot.com; Sports; Sports Figures; Sports Premiums; Sportsmen;
. . . with my having picked-up ten over the years, my guess (and it's only a guess) is that the athletes were the premium set for Dobbelmann (Dutch Tobacanist), while the flag-bearer's may have been handed out by an airline or shipping line as a memento of the games, or something else of significance? But - and it's not scientific - they seem to have been issued two-to-one over the athletes?

Basketball Player; Demi Rond; Demi Ronde Bosse; Demi-Ronde Bosse; Discus Thrower; Flag Barer; Hockey Player; Melbourne Athletes; Melbourne Australia; Melbourne Olympics; Olympic Games; Premium Flats; Premium Sportsmen; Premium Toy Figures; Semi Flat; Semi-Flats; Small Scale World; smallscaleworld.blogspot.com; Sports; Sports Figures; Sports Premiums; Sportsmen;
The large hollow base and variation in figure hights make a sizeing problematical with such a small sample, but around 30mm? I didn't measure them - exactly, and they've been put away!

Basketball Player; Demi Rond; Demi Ronde Bosse; Demi-Ronde Bosse; Discus Thrower; Flag Barer; Hockey Player; Melbourne Athletes; Melbourne Australia; Melbourne Olympics; Olympic Games; Premium Flats; Premium Sportsmen; Premium Toy Figures; Semi Flat; Semi-Flats; Small Scale World; smallscaleworld.blogspot.com; Sports; Sports Figures; Sports Premiums; Sportsmen;
Each marked Melbourne on one side and having the five rings on the other side of the base, the Melbourne Olympics were in 1956 and the style of European margarine premiums is clear to see in these, although they are more fully-round than demi-ronde! They were also issued for the Helsinki games of '52 or marked Dobbelmann and come in various colours, I may have some more somewhere, but that'll do for now!

S is for Starlux Clones

A particularly unimaginative title, but it's a rushed post, I have nothing ready for Saturday or Sunday, so a couple of rushed ones going out between now (02:11am) and bath-time! These are pretty run-of-the-mill HK clones, or at least I think they are Hong Kong, they aren't marked.

50mm Figures; 50mm Sailors; FFL; Foreign Import; French Figures; French Foreign Legion; French Infantry; French Marines; French Naval Figures; French Sailors; French Toy Soldiers; Hong Kong; Hong Kong Copies; Hong Kong Figures; Hong Kong Piracy; Hong Kong Toy Soldiers; Made in Hong Kong; Rado French Troops; Rado Industries; Ri-Toys French; Small Scale World; smallscaleworld.blogspot.com; Starlux 50mm Troops; Starlux Copies; Starlux Toy Soldiers;
To all intents and purposes these are Starlux clones, but a couple of them are those poses which several Franch makers seem to have used, but the bases are Starlux'y so we'll call them after-Starlux French Foreign Legion for now!

The camera's flash has destroyed my careful arranging of the camel-dung yellow ones from lightest at the top to darkest at the bottom, by cutting through the varying patina's and revealing only two variations! The three shades of gray have remained true however.

50mm Figures; 50mm Sailors; FFL; Foreign Import; French Figures; French Foreign Legion; French Infantry; French Marines; French Naval Figures; French Sailors; French Toy Soldiers; Hong Kong; Hong Kong Copies; Hong Kong Figures; Hong Kong Piracy; Hong Kong Toy Soldiers; Made in Hong Kong; Rado French Troops; Rado Industries; Ri-Toys French; Small Scale World; smallscaleworld.blogspot.com; Starlux 50mm Troops; Starlux Copies; Starlux Toy Soldiers;
Also Starlux sculpts and four colour issues so far found, we've seen the originals here in 20 and 30mm I think. The last one is a very odd pose (does anyone actually march like that?) which I don't remember from the smaller versions.

Although unmarked, the figures are in a very Rado type of polymer (tinny polyethylene) and seem to share the same plastic colours are some Ri-Toy production, I'm not saying they are (although I'll tag them as such to 'cover the bases'), just that it helps cement the probable Hong Kong connection?

Rack-toys, wherever they are from, and common enough, I've been picking them up in small lots for at least 20-odd years? The upright marchers are 50mm and err . . . that's it.
