About Me

- I’m a 60-year-old Aspergic gardening CAD-Monkey. Sardonic, cynical and with the political leanings of a social reformer, I’m also a toy and model figure collector, particularly interested in the history of plastics and plastic toys. Other interests are history, current affairs, modern art, and architecture, gardening and natural history. I love plain chocolate, fireworks and trees, but I don’t hug them, I do hug kittens. I hate ignorance, when it can be avoided, so I hate the 'educational' establishment and pity the millions they’ve failed with teaching-to-test and rote 'learning' and I hate the short-sighted stupidity of the entire ruling/industrial elite, with their planet destroying fascism and added “buy-one-get-one-free”. Likewise, I also have no time for fools and little time for the false crap we're all supposed to pretend we haven't noticed, or the games we're supposed to play. I will 'bite the hand that feeds', to remind it why it feeds.

Interesting read. Them Blaming the olympics for thier losses is a bit weak though, more the fact that thier marketing strategy has gone the way of most other retailers these days, quantity for maximising short term profit to impress shareholders rather than quality to secure loyal customers and therefore future sales.I mean, I remember the day limited edition meant a certain amount was produced and no more, not the limit of how much the customer is prepared to spend. Product that was meant to last and be handed on to form a collection which future generations would add to.
The lack of patience and the "MacDonalds" culture really saddens me.
Cheers
Paul
It's very weak indeed, but I thought it was a poignant read all the same!
I have a cutting or another link somewhere from Jan/Feb (I think?) stating that they were expecting dividends to be lower due to poor sales of railway sets last Christmas due to delivery/production problems at the Chinese factory, so the rot had set in long before the 'cyclopian' Hemlock and Wendybelle got involved!!!
To be honest - now the awful JJB Trackies-r-us has gone under I was rather praying WH Rip-off would be next, it will be sad if Hornby beat them to the knackers-yard...
