About Me

My photo
No Fixed Abode, Home Counties, United Kingdom
I’m a 60-year-old Aspergic gardening CAD-Monkey. Sardonic, cynical and with the political leanings of a social reformer, I’m also a toy and model figure collector, particularly interested in the history of plastics and plastic toys. Other interests are history, current affairs, modern art, and architecture, gardening and natural history. I love plain chocolate, fireworks and trees, but I don’t hug them, I do hug kittens. I hate ignorance, when it can be avoided, so I hate the 'educational' establishment and pity the millions they’ve failed with teaching-to-test and rote 'learning' and I hate the short-sighted stupidity of the entire ruling/industrial elite, with their planet destroying fascism and added “buy-one-get-one-free”. Likewise, I also have no time for fools and little time for the false crap we're all supposed to pretend we haven't noticed, or the games we're supposed to play. I will 'bite the hand that feeds', to remind it why it feeds.

News, Views, Etc . . . Forthcoming Events Friday 19th - Friday 26th April 2019

I'll knock the opining on the head as it's a holy-day weekend! I'm too soft; that's my trouble! [Really - it's because everthing's been a bit last minute in the last couple of days!]

Loads of stuff to entertain the toy-collecting masses over the coming week, with Maidstone probably the highlight? No new 'Other Events' though, but check the two previous 'Forthcomming' posts for those which are still ongoing, especially if you've younger peep's to entertain over the next few days.

Auctions

Wednesday 24th - Friday 26th April 2019 (Maybe?)

Stockton-on-Tees - Vectis Auctions (3-day sale - maybe?)
Fleck Way, Thornaby, Stockton-on-Tees, TS17 9JZ
Web. - www.vectis.co.uk
eMail - admin@vectis.co.uk
01642 750 616

Note: The only dates they've given me are 24th (part 1 of the Simon Hope Matchbox Collection) and the 30th (a very important Star Wars sale, more on which later/next week), however they had previously advertised a Train Sale for the 26th (Friday) a while ago, and Collectors Gazette are listing sales on the 24th, 25th AND 26th, so check with Vectis to see what's what, it's not my job!

24th April

"A long-standing customer of Vectis Auctions has chosen the company to offer the first part of his collection on the 24th of April. Part one comprises a thinning down of his collection, with Simon retaining a core to display at home. The 618 Lots include many interesting Regular wheels and Superfast variations for the dedicated collector, along with entry level estimates for groups of models. Something for everyone! Highlights include a rare Ford Galaxie police car, a Ford Fairlaine station wagon, a Ford Heavy Wreck Truck and a Cadillac sixty special."

25th April (maybe?)
General Toy sale?

26th April (maybe?)
Model railway/train sale?

Other News

Let's parler Franglaise: Le webesiete Vichy l'et downe pour les cauntretemps unfortunate! Or something (it wasn't clear in Google translate?), but is appears a fight or some verbal pushing led to virtual fisticuffs and tziegheil'44 (a good year for the left) has shut the site down until everyone calms down or stops crying. I bet I can name the three most likely to have been involved and further bet at least one of them was Banzai's makeitup's-man, but I sadly missed the whole thing!

Strangely - given one of his lieutenants (and right-hand mouse) was almost certainly involved, TJF has remained remarkably silent on the matter, no news flash from the PSTSM headquarters' for us! But then, they are probably busy working on all those reports they announced with a flourish in January as forthcoming from the Toy Fairs in Nuremburg, New York, Nanjing . . . Nantwich . . . Noseby-on-the-Nase?

It's funny, if PSR goes down (even with forewarning), there's a rending of garments and ger'nashing of teeth on all the other main platforms, likewise if HäT's ETS goes down, you can hear the lamentation in Mongolia, but Vichy goes down and this; that wot you is reading, here, now, is it! There's a lesson there for all of us!

H is for How They Come In

Picked-up a Waddington's board game and an Epixx figure which will both be separately posted sometime, but in the meantime a couple of bits to show you . . .

More dinorasers, these double-up as pencil tops and came from one of the card shops, but I can't remember which one, I know it wasn't Clinton's or Birthdays, so it's one of the others! And they were also gathered several weeks ago but missed that week's post!

This was a charity-shop purchase, originating in the pinky-purple zone of toy stores. One of several I now have, I'll Blog them all together one day when I'm feeling particularly mean! But the quite reasonable 54/56mm PVC-like figures set this one apart! No idea on maker/brand, but when I do blog them I'll have all the old Argos/Index/TRU catalogues to guide me!
