About Me

I’m a 60-year-old Aspergic gardening CAD-Monkey. Sardonic, cynical and with the political leanings of a social reformer, I’m also a toy and model figure collector, particularly interested in the history of plastics and plastic toys. Other interests are history, current affairs, modern art, and architecture, gardening and natural history. I love plain chocolate, fireworks and trees, but I don’t hug them, I do hug kittens. I hate ignorance, when it can be avoided, so I hate the 'educational' establishment and pity the millions they’ve failed with teaching-to-test and rote 'learning' and I hate the short-sighted stupidity of the entire ruling/industrial elite, with their planet destroying fascism and added “buy-one-get-one-free”. Likewise, I also have no time for fools and little time for the false crap we're all supposed to pretend we haven't noticed, or the games we're supposed to play. I will 'bite the hand that feeds', to remind it why it feeds.

H is for Happy Husky Heroes Haul Heavy something-beginning-with H's

I picked up the third (missing) pose the other day, took a bunch of photo's and sorted them to a folder, tried to name it Festival Huskies and saw it auto-correct to Festival Huskies_1, thought, "That's odd", ran a search for Festival and found I'd shot the other two ages ago . . . so we'll look at two first!

The collage I did ages ago, the sitting and lying poses seem more common which may be simply co-incidence as to how I've randomly encountered them over the years, but may be down to the more delicate nature of the legs on the third pose, and while I haven't found any chalky-brittle examples, they do exist in the wider Gem/Festival oeuvre?

George Musgrave sculpts; the [third!] running pose similar to the one he designed for Britains' Polar Exploration line and believed to be Festival-branded rather than Gem/Ge-Models.

All a bit tatty, but they are probably half-a-century old! The thinned-down brown paint used to spray the main colour seems to adhere better, although rubbing-off over time, but the gloss-black blobs used for the eyes and ears has mostly gone, it probably started flaking before they left the workshop!

Huskies by festival! Makes more sense than I thought as always considered them to be the Queens Corgi's from a cheap Hong Kong set. Never seen the standing either had a few of each of the others over time though.
