I’m a 60-year-old Aspergic gardening CAD-Monkey. Sardonic, cynical and with the political leanings of a social reformer, I’m also a toy and model figure collector, particularly interested in the history of plastics and plastic toys. Other interests are history, current affairs, modern art, and architecture, gardening and natural history. I love plain chocolate, fireworks and trees, but I don’t hug them, I do hug kittens. I hate ignorance, when it can be avoided, so I hate the 'educational' establishment and pity the millions they’ve failed with teaching-to-test and rote 'learning' and I hate the short-sighted stupidity of the entire ruling/industrial elite, with their planet destroying fascism and added “buy-one-get-one-free”. Likewise, I also have no time for fools and little time for the false crap we're all supposed to pretend we haven't noticed, or the games we're supposed to play. I will 'bite the hand that feeds', to remind it why it feeds.

M is for Monster Jam

Very much 'Bread & Circus' is the phenomena of monster trucks, or theatrical wrestling, both of which fill stadia with people who need simple, choreographed, but apparently (in the case of monster trucks - actually;) violent and relatively pointless entertainment of little consequence.

As with the various wrestling circuits, there are travelling 'circuses' of monster trucks and one is Monster Jam, whose efforts (through TV and sites like Youtube) have (like WWF) raised them to toy-worthy status, a baton Spinmaster have picked-up to run with, the interest to you - loyal readers - is that each model in the range comes with a driver figurine.

They were cheap . . . 'ish and I was feeling flush so I grabbed a couple of contrasting ones as a sample and shelfied the previous pair (we buy/shelfie this shite, so you don't have to!) and here we have Grave Digger with a vintage (Dodge?) body-style and The Ice Cream Man with an H2/Hummer type body - as both are probably large GRP 'fibreglass' mouldings, I guess that's the least salient point!

I've found three sculpts so far, a standing male, the girl on the left here holding her steering-wheel and the waving male. This one has been painted as a Neapolitan ice cream . . . geddit! . . . like I hinted-at above, it 'aint high-brow sophistication!

These will turn-up in mixed lots going forward, and probably won't feature here again!
